PULLING BACK THE GREEN CURTAIN ON DOJ & FEDERAL COURT SYSTEM (PART XI): ASHLEIGH RESCUING ME ON THE PRISON DOORSTEPS
LESSON: Once they take everything from you, I mean everything, you must identify the insanity, accept your new station in life, and then take that first step back to rebuild and never let the bastards win!

May 19, 2020, Ashleigh pulled up to the Beckly, West Virginia Federal Correctional Institute to pick me up from the Hell Journey. It had been seven years of incarceration in extremely violent surroundings and now I was being a released to home confinement, then supervised release, and then, hopefully, an eventual end to this nightmare – not that it can ever leave you for the rest of your life.
As most of you know, by many miracles, representing myself I was fortunate to reverse the trial court’s decisions five times and remove two federal judges for you know what.
Now I was going home seven years early and here was Ashleigh’s tiny SUV pulling up in front of the gates. I literally recalled at that moment Elliot picking up Jake at the gates of Jolliet Prison in Blues Brothers.
I hopped in the car and Ashleigh sped off in her normal maniac driving style. One minute into the journey I realized I had forgotten my coffee cup! I yelled, “We have to go back and get back my mug!” Ashleigh screamed, “Are you insane?!” I replied, “Clearly yes, but I told you that!”
After living an extravagant lifestyle for so many years, my current life had been reduced to a half-locker of peanut butter, coffee, and the remaining legal filings I had not yet sent in. My locker was constantly broken into and pillaged by the animals while I worked all day in the law library. And back in Virginia, I had put my remaining assets into a storage facility – mainly a mattress, hundreds of books, and all my family photos I cherished. But after a few months in prison I could not pay the storage fees and they auctioned my remaining items. I never knew what happened to them.
Now, in perfect parallel to Tom Hanks risking his life saving Wilson, the volleyball friend on the deserted island in Castaway, I needed to risk my freedom again to force Ashleigh to return for the only asset I still owned on planet Earth. She screamed but turned around the car. I jumped out like a ninja warrior, grabbed the mug, and was back in the car in half a second.
As we journeyed the I-64 highway home I again became a problematic pain, ordering her not to follow that police cruiser so closely! My heart raced at just the sight. We stopped at a Hardees drive through off the highway – sausage, cheese, fat, and high cholesterol had never tasted so good!
The journey back has been a process with miracle after miracle, but some of the best nights are listening to Ashleigh tell people, “You’re not going to believe this one!”
Have a great week, Overachievers!
